I think that this book cover would catch my eye on the shelf. The image makes me wonder what this book is about. It looks like a suburban town, kind of cookie cutter. The cover leaves the viewer with a lot of questions, which I think is a key to selling a book. The title and the { } draws the reader through the image without getting lost, because the image is a little busy. “THE UNCOUPLING” also goes along with the image because it makes you think of the perfect suburban family falling apart or a love gone wrong.

I like how the top and bottom of the photograph on the cover are a bit out of focus. It hints that something might go wrong or be a bit less than perfect. I think the two brackets create a strong visual-verbal connection because there is a pair (couple) of brackets and the book is called “The Uncoupling.”
